Living in Denver: Good Old-Fashioned Free Fun

It has been a great summer in Central Denver- a fabulously FREE recession-friendly and fun season. First- all the free things I have done:

I go on a weekly evening bicycle tour of Central Denver each Wednesday with about 700 other crazed maniacs in differing costumes.  Lots of fun.

Last Thursday I went to a free performance in Cheesman Park by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra- attended by 1500 people.

Two weeks before that there was a free evening movie set up in the same park- full featured, a free,  picnic and dog loving event!

Each Sunday I go to City Park with the dogs and hang out for 2 hours with friends on a picnic enjoying a free jazz concert.

This coming weekend, there will be another free bicycle rally for a few hundred people in Cheesman Park- benefiting some cause, and I really do not even know what cause it is.

I visit three parks for free each week- City Park (3 minutes from my front door) Cheesman Park (2 minutes from my front door) and Riverfront Park (5 minutes from my front door) – each of these parks are part of the City of Denver Park and Recreation Division.

I also go riding my bicycle for free on numerous paved trails and mini- freeways in the regional trail system … the very best in the nation. ….

Denver has one of the most extensive park and trail systems in the country, and just this week was voted the Number 1 urban area in the entire US for walking and bicycling the extensive park and trails system.

Lots to do in Denver for free!
